Resources for Patients and Families

There are some wonderful resources for patients, families and those that are interested in learning more about pancreatic cancer and furthering efforts to increase funding for pancreatic cancer research that we have listed below.  Fund A Cure hopes to compliment the tremendous efforts of these great organizations.

 - The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is the preeminent patient advocacy group in the United States for pancreatic cancer.  They are doing a remarkable job in raising funds directly for research and for advocating for an increase in federal funding for research.
- - Pancreatica is an organization that is committed to providing in depth information about pancreatic cancer, treatment options as well as the latest news about new clinical trials.  They host a free cancer counseling hotline at 1-800-525-3777

- The Lustgarten Foundation seeks to advance scientific and medical research to provide for better detection, prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer.  It also has a patient and caregiver education program.

- The Pancreatic Cancer Alliance is committed to raising money for research, increasing public awareness and educating patients and professionals about pancreatic cancer.

- Johns Hopkins University has one of the most comprehensive treatment and care centers in the world for pancreatic cancer.  Much information about pancreatic cancer and the latest treatment options can be found at their website.

Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA has a specialized unit that provides surgical options and treatment protocols for pancreatic cancer.  Patients also have access to participate in experimental treatment methods as well.

- The National Cancer Institute (NCI) which was founded in 1937 by the U.S. Congress hosts an informative page on pancreas cancer.  NCI is the largest single source of funding for pancreatic cancer research in the world.  Information on how to find current clinical trials is present.

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA has an entire center dedicated to the treatment and research of pancreatic cancer and related cancers.  The Jefferson Center for Pancreatic, Biliary and Related Cancers leads the fight against these difficult cancers and their researchers use innovative approaches to advance the understanding of the basic biology of pancreatic and related cancers.

Dr. Randy Pausch is a computer science professor from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA who hosted a website chronicling his battle against pancreatic cancer.
