Advocacy Letters
Letter dated February 23, 2009 to National Cancer Institute Director Dr. John Niederhuber asking him to use the federal stimulus funds to dramatically increase research funding for pancreatic cancer to the level of breast cancer and AIDS.  The response to Fund A Cure from Dr. Niederhuber can be found here.  We will continue to implore that he personally devote more dollars towards pancreatic cancer research.

Letter dated June 16, 2008 to Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) urging him to advocate for more funding for Pancreatic Cancer research.  Senator Specter met with us in November 2008 and will push for more funding for pancreatic cancer in light of the statistics we gave him on funding discrepancies.

Letter dated July 18, 2008 to Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) urging him in light of supporting sending $50 billion overseas to fight disease in other countries to help increase funding for pancreatic cancer research.

Letter dated
July 24, 2008 to Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) urging him as chair of the Senate  Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies to dedicate specific funding for pancreatic cancer research in the National Cancer Institute's yearly appropriations.

Letter dated July 25, 2008 to Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-PA) thanking him for supporting HR Resolution that named November as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and asking him to work to increase funding levels for research to $1 billion a year.  Congressman Murphy has met with us to discuss federal funding issues.

Letter dated May 11, 2009 to Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) who is the ranking Republican on the Senate Appropriations Committee urging him to insist that the National Cancer Institute, which is funded through this committee, spend significantly more of its nearly $5 billion allocation on pancreatic cancer research.  We met with Sara Love Swaney of Senator Cochran's staff in late May 2009.
